The Lady Chatterley Trail
6 miles

D.H. Lawrence, who was born and brought up just over twelve miles away from Teversal, used the places that he knew from his youth and early manhood as settings for his novels. Lady Chatterley's Lover, his most famous book which he published in 1928, was set quite deliberately in this part of the rural coalfields of West Nottinghamshire. This six mile walk will take you through the landscape of the novel. Simply follow the forget-me-not blue markers and enjoy your journey through literary history and the Nottinghamshire countryside.

N.B. Sites not on the direct route are not presently open for public access. Please keep to the marked way.

From the Visitors Centre, pass through the gate and turn right onto the trail. After two thirds of a mile (where a footpath crosses the trail) turn left over the stile and follow the footpath to Teversal.

Follow the road straight on to the stile on the right opposite the church. Cross over the stile and over the fields to the road, then turn right and go to the top of the hill to a stile on the left next to a gate.

Follow the footpath over the fields to cottages. At the road turn left and after 100 yards turn right onto the footpath through Norwood House garden, over the field, through the wood, over the footbridge and field to Rowthorne Trail.

Turn right along the trail for 1 mile to the junction, then turn right onto Teversal Trail. After 2 miles (at stile) go down the steps on the left. At the road turn left under the bridge and follow the road for 200 yards to zig-zag path back to the Visitors Centre.
