Pleasley Vale Walk
12 miles

From point 'A' on the Nature Trail Walk, cross over the lane and walk down the trail opposite for about half a mile. At the gate turn right down the hill and right at the bottom. Cross over the road and continue by the Nags Head pub, round the bend and immediately over the bridge and take the footpath on you left. Follow the river under the bridge and continue along the trail by the river into an open area. A picnic table on your left is where you can go either of 2 ways: Up the ramp opposite leads you onto the disused railway track or following along the trail for about a quarter of a mile, up a flight of steps, through a wooded area, round a right hand bend and up a small incline will also bring you onto the same track.

Follow the track until eventually you come to a gate and horse stile. Pass through this, down to the road beyond and turn left here along the road, through the pretty village of Pleasley Vale. Continue through a barrier and pass by 3 large stone ex cotton mills and a lake on your left.

You will pass through another barrier and between 2 stone cottages. Bear left, still following the road, until shortly you will see a stile on your left (in the fence). Cross this stile and follow the trail through a wood, over 2 more stiles, until you reach a car park. Go straight across here, through a kissing gate, down the trail, over a bridge and turn right. Very soon you will see the picnic table you passed earlier. From here you return the way you came, until you reach point 'A'.

Here you turn right up Longhedge Lane for about 100 yards to another kissing gate. Pass through it and follow the Nature Trail back to the Visitors Centre.
