From the Visitors Centre walk down to the gate noticing the carved seats on the left and the Coal Garden on your right. Go through the gate and turn right onto the trail.

Continue along the trail until you reach a kissing gate, turn left and continue for approximately a quarter of a mile, then turn left off the track down steps. At the bottom turn right and right again over the stile and walk round the field keeping the hedge on your right to reach the opposite corner. Pass through the gate and turn right onto the road.

Follow the road as it bends right and at St Katherine's Church turn right over stile. Cross the field diagonally to the stile in the hedge and continue diagonally to the stile in the bottom corner of the field. Turn right onto road and at the brow of the hill turn left over the stile and continue on the track between fields. After the bridge take the steps on the right down to the trail turning right at the bottom.

Continue on trail until you reach a stile. Cross over the stile, turn left down the steps and left again at the bottom. Walk down the road to the second stile on the left and follow this footpath back to the Visitors Centre, passing the carved tree on your right.
